Honey Birdette Expands in The US and UK

In April, 2017 Honey Birdette, an Australian Lingerie company, launched an eCommerce website that’s dedicated to its US market. The company also unveiled plans to increase the number of stores in the UK to 40 by the end of 2018. The brand was founded in Brisbane, Australia by Eloise Monaghan, an entrepreneur and designer. She founded the company together with a friend after they were frustrated by the lack of bedroom accessories and high quality lingerie that are easily accessible to women.
The launch of the US site was fueled by high sales and market enthusiasm for its products. In 2016, Honey Birdette experienced 374 percent growth in online sales from the US. The new platform will enhance the customer experience through faster deliveries, extended product ranges and easier returns for US customers. Customers will also get free deliveries for orders that are over $50 in value. The company does not have stores in the US but it is planning to open them in the near future. The brand has 55 stores in its home market in Australia. The UK market has three operational stores but there are ten openings planned in Leeds, Westfield Stratford, Liverpool and Newcastle. This aggressive expansion is in line with the firm’s target of having 40 stores in the UK by 2018.
Prices for the firm’s products start at $60 for bras and $35 for briefs. The brand has a broad range of products that cater primarily to women. However, there are products such as toys and scented candles that can be used by both genders. The company’s products are in high demand globally. The brand’s latest releases dubbed Issy sold more than half of the available stock before the official launch. At one point 2500 units of the collection were sold in a three hour time span. Monaghan, who is the creative director of the brand, says the strong sales are a reflection of the company’s well designed products.
